Hermetic: Correspondence
Hermeticism is a philosophical and esoteric tradition associated with writings attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, a legendary figure combining Greek and Egyptian wisdom traditions. A later popular teaching—especially in The Kybalion (1908)—names Correspondence: the idea that similar patterns may appear at different scales, from a single life to a larger order. This lens helps you notice that kind of rhyme. It does not prove that unlike teachings are secretly one, and The Kybalion is not an ancient Hermetic scripture.
What it looks for
- Correspondence. Similar patterns may show up at different scales—inner and outer, small and large—without those levels being the same thing.
The popular phrase “as above, so below” is often used for this idea. It is a way of noticing rhyme across scales. It is not a warrant to treat a heavenly vision, a psychological map, and a physics metaphor as one discovery.

- Correspondence is an interpretive pattern, not proof that all traditions secretly taught one cosmology.
- The Kybalion (1908) is a modern presentation. It is not identical with the ancient Hermetica.
