Where does knowledge come from?

Most of us know the feeling of being sure. A conviction may come from people we trust, from evidence we can point to, or from something we have experienced directly. Yet certainty alone cannot tell us whether a belief is true. The moment a serious doubt enters, a claim becomes a question: where did this knowledge come from?

The question reaches beyond the claim to the person making it. What do I trust in myself: memory, perception, judgment, an inner sense of recognition? And who is the “I” doing the knowing? This is where the search touches the question Who am I? A knower is never absent from knowledge, even when the method is designed to correct for personal bias.
